Sometimes we don’t know what to say to let the person know we are there for them. But words have power, that’s why it’s important to think carefully before offering advice, an opinion or a judgment to someone who is feeling vulnerable.

Here you’ll find a few common scenarios people with depression/anxiety often hear. You’ll learn alternative responses which are more supportive and likely to encourage a person to open up to you. Being able to open up without feeling judged gives relief and establishes trust — and that’s the best help you can offer someone who’s struggling.
